"그의 지팡이를 들고"
[출4:20] 그래서 모세는 아내와 아들들을 나귀 등에 태우고 이집트 땅으로 돌아갔다. 그 때에 모세는 손에 하나님의 지팡이를 들고 있었다.
[출19:4-6] ‘너희는 내가 이집트 사람에게 한 일을 보았고, 또 어미 독수리가 그 날개로 새끼를 업어 나르듯이, 내가 너희를 인도하여 나에게로 데려온 것도 보았다. 이제 너희가 정말로 나의 말을 듣고, 내가 세워준 언약을 지키면, 너희는 모든 민족 가운데서 나의 보물이 될 것이다. 온 세상이 다 나의 것이다. 그러므로 너희는 내가 선택한 백성이 되고, 너희의 나라는 나를 섬기는 제사장 나라가 되고, 너희는 거룩한 민족이 될 것이다.' 너는 이 말을 이스라엘 자손에게 일러주어라.
[출40:38] 그들이 길을 가는 동안에, 낮에는 주님의 구름이 성막 위에 있고, 밤에는 구름 가운데 불이 있어서, 이스라엘 온 자손의 눈 앞을 밝혀 주었다.
오늘날 사람들은 진리의 상대성을 말하면서도 여전히 진정성과 본질을 추구하며 새로운 소망을 갈망합니다. 혼란과 분열이 가득한 급변하는 세상에서, 마음의 상처와 불안을 해결하려 애쓰지만, 깊은 내면의 자아와 마주하고 참된 구원의 하나님을 만나는 것은 쉽지 않습니다. 그리스도인들도 소위 잘 믿는다는 이들은 타인을 정죄하면서 사회로부터 고립되거나, 혹은 신앙을 자신의 삶과 분리하며 살아가는 방법으로 해결하려 합니다. 이러한 막막한 현실에서 문득 질문합니다. “다 지우고 새로 시작할 수는 없을까?”
2025–2026 KBS는 출애굽기를 함께 묵상하며 하나님의 구원의 이야기를 따라가고자 합니다.
하나님은 모세의 이름을 부르고 자신을 소개하며, 이스라엘 백성을 위한 출구 전략 (Exit Plan)을 선포하십니다. 그러나 모세는 과거의 자신과 마주하는 것이 두려워 쉽게 순종하지 못합니다. 그때 하나님은 모세가 이집트를 떠나 광야에서 지낸 오랜 세월 늘 손에 들고 다녔던 지팡이를 통해 그에게 다가오십니다.
“가까이 오지 마라. 네가 서 있는 땅은 거룩한 땅이니, 신을 벗어라”
하나님은 그 지팡이를 거룩한 도구로 바꾸시고, 하나님의 지팡이로 다시 모세의 손에 쥐게 하십니다. 하나님의 지팡이를 들고 이집트로 돌아간 모세는 하나님의 말씀에 따라 기적을 행하며 이스라엘 백성의 출애굽을 인도합니다.
모세에게 그러하셨듯, 하나님은 오늘도 우리에게 다가오십니다. 세상이 원하는 모습에 맞추기 위해 애쓰다 지쳐버린 나. 생존을 위한 방어기제에 갇혀 정작 내가 누구인지조차 혼란스러운 나. 그런 나의 이름을 부르시며, 하나님은 내가 일상에서 자주 사용하고 익숙하게 여기는 것들- 예를 들면 핸드폰, 노트북, 악기, 축구공, 밥솥 같은 도구들- 을 통해 다가오십니다. 그리고 그 익숙한 것을 하나님의 것으로 바꾸신 후, 일상을 핑계로 외면해왔던 나의 깊은 내면과 마주하게 하십니다.
이제 우리 각자의 지팡이를 들고 한 해 동안 출애굽의 여정을 함께 시작합시다.
열 가지 재앙, 유월절과 무교절, 홍해 도하, 시내산 언약과 율법, 금송아지 사건, 그리고 마침내 성막 위에 구름으로 임하신 하나님의 임재까지… 내 안에서부터 밖으로 터져 나오는 주님의 영광의 빛 속에서, 하나님 나라에 서있는 내 삶의 좌표를 하나하나 다시 찍어가며 하나님의 지팡이를 들고 함께 걸어갑시다.

"Holding His Staff"

(Exodus 4:20) So Moses took his wife and his sons and mounted them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the staff of God in his hand.
(Exodus 19:4-6) You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to Myself. Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.
(Exodus 40:38) For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.
Theme Explanation
Today, people speak of the relativity of truth, yet still seek authenticity, essence, and long for new hope.
In a rapidly changing world full of confusion and division, we try to heal the wounds and anxieties of our hearts—but it is not easy to confront our deepest selves or encounter the God of true salvation. Even Christians—those considered devout—often end up isolating themselves from society by judging others, or attempt to resolve their struggles by separating their faith from their everyday lives.
In the midst of this overwhelming reality, we suddenly ask:
"Can't we just erase everything and start over?"
For 2025–2026, KBS invites you to journey through the book of Exodus, reflecting on the story of God’s salvation.
God calls Moses by name, introduces Himself, and proclaims an exit plan for the people of Israel.
But Moses, afraid to face his past, cannot obey easily. That’s when God approaches him through the staff he had carried for years during his time in the wilderness after fleeing Egypt.
“Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
God transforms that ordinary staff into a holy instrument and places it back into Moses’ hand as God’s staff.
With it, Moses returns to Egypt, performs miracles according to God’s word, and leads the people of Israel out of bondage.
Just as He did with Moses, God still comes to us today.
To the me who is worn out from trying to conform to what the world demands.
To the me trapped in survival-mode defense mechanisms, confused about who I really am.
God calls me by name, and He comes through the familiar things I use daily—like my phone, laptop, musical instrument, soccer ball, or rice cooker.
He transforms these ordinary tools into His own, and through them, leads me to face the deep inner self I’ve long ignored under the excuse of busyness.
So now, let’s each take up our own staff and begin the journey of Exodus together for the year.
From the ten plagues, the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread, the parting of the Red Sea, the Sinai covenant and law, the golden calf incident, and finally to the glorious presence of God descending upon the tabernacle in a cloud—
Let us walk forward together, holding God’s staff in hand, retracing the coordinates of our lives as citizens of God’s Kingdom, in the radiant light of His glory that bursts forth from within us.
